Mission

Darul Hikmah Academy was founded with the objective of fulfilling the spiritual and academic needs of today’s Muslims. The Academy is dedicated to community service by offering Muslims advanced educational opportunities under the tutelage and guidance of experts in the Islamic sciences and formally-trained educators. Darul Hikmah holds classes that give young and old alike the chance to drink from the knowledge of qualified Muslim scholars.

DH classes are designed to spiritually enlighten and intellectually liberate. Adhering to high educational standards, the instructors seek to lay a firm foundation of knowledge that will bolster both faith and practice, so that students may enjoy life as upright Muslims and exemplars of Islam.

Studying with Darul Hikmah

Many practicing and spirited youth in the West today are in sincere search of a clear and sound understanding of their faith, spoken to them in their own language, and practicable in their daily lives. The demand of today’s Muslim youth for fulfillment of their spiritual and academic needs has, until now, gone unheeded.

A substantial number of practicing and motivated Muslims in the West today are in search of a clear and authentic understanding of their faith. Today’s youth demand, more than anything else, a greater fulfillment of their spiritual and academic needs.

What is lacking in the existing mainstream education system are courses built around an authentic Islamic world view that provides its students a clear sense of identity and a holistic, moral perspective on life. Today’s educational institutions and youth-based initiatives need to design courses on Islam that not only impart raw knowledge, but also a proper understanding of its practical application. This can only be achieved in a healthy Islamic environment.

Our purpose is not to denigrate the importance of imparting mainstream education to the masses; we do not wish to produce in-depth and full-time scholars of religion alone. Rather, we hope to complement the existing sciences with traditional courses in Islamic studies, so that students can study both fields with an equal appreciation of their values.

With the above in mind, a number of ‘ulama and mainstream educators have designed an Islamic studies curriculum that can be taught on a part-time basis, while still fulfilling the basic needs of every Muslim male and female. We are hopeful that our “Darul Hikmah Academy Islamic Studies Course” will be the first step in achieving our broader and more ambitious academic goals.

Timing:

Saturdays:  9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Each class covers a fifty-five minute time period. Five minutes of break are given between each class. A twenty-minute session in the middle of the day is allotted for snacks and refreshments, as well as for interaction with other students and teachers.

Fees:

Darul Hikmah’s educational activities are designed to be as accessible as possible, allowing for the maximum benefit of the Muslim community. Its tuition fees, therefore, are aimed at being minimal and reasonable for both the struggling student and the working adult.

Our monthly fees are $60.00 per month. Students who cannot afford the tuition can opt to apply for a scholarship. To apply for a scholarship, please contact the principal of the Academy, Nassir Kotelensky, at Nassir@darulhikmah.com

An initial down-payment for three months will be collected at the date of orientation. Please bring a check or cash for $180.00 written out to “Al Mustafa Foundation”. Please note that book fees are separate and that books are not necessarily provided by the academy.
